The Donegal Beard is an Irish-style beard that grows along the jaw line and covers the chin. Contestants must be clean shaven on January 1st and grow a Donegal Beard by St. Patrick’s Day March 17th. On Saint Patrick’s Day all beards should conform to the Donegal standard.

Famous Bronze of Young Molly Malone and Wheelbarrow Wall Calendar 2011

Only a few days away from the start of the New Year and another calendar for your home that features the Molly Malone statue in Grafton Street, Dublin, Ireland, cast in bronze to celebrate the city's millennium in 1987.

Molly, a beautiful fishmonger who plied her trade on the streets of Dublin, but who died young of a fever, wears a 17th Century dress standing and holding her wheelbarrow on which are several baskets of fish, cockles and mussels. This statue is known locally as "The Tart With The Cart", "The Dish With The Fish", "The Trollop With The Scallops", "The Dolly With the Trolley", and "The Flirt in the Skirt".

Although The famous song "Cockles and Mussels", also known as "In Dublin's Fair City" commemorates Molly Malone there is no evidence that the song is based on a real woman, of the 17th century or at any other time.
