A Walk Through Ireland's Past - O'Connell Street In 19th Century Dublin

Vintage City Street Scene Dublin Ireland on Keds Shoes

Take a walk through Dublin's past with these cool casual Keds shoes that feature a digitally cleaned image of a vintage Dublin landmark. Features O'Connell Street and the bridge over the River Liffey, Dublin, Ireland in the 1860's when the street was known as Sackville Street until 1924 and the bridge as the Carlisle bridge.

The scene shows Nelson's Pillar (bombed and demolished in 1966) where in its place now stands the Spire of Dublin, the Monument of Light. Shops and buildings are shown on either side of the thoroughfare, most noticeable being the GPO (General Post Office) on the left of the monument and a Manufactory on the corner of Bachelors Walk and Lower O'Connell Street on the left at the bridge.

The street scene provides a fascinating glimpse into the life of the city in the 1860's; well dressed couples strolling, an officer on horseback, a man on crutches, street traders and porters, horse drawn carriages, dogs and children (not all of these features are visible on the shoes, but they are visible on other products with this design).

An ideal souvenir of a historic Irish past.
